OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. quick cooking oats
1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/3 c. flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon

Pour boiling water over quick cooking oats and stick of butter. Cover and let stand 20 minutes. Add sugar, brown sugar, eggs, flour, salt, soda, nutmeg and cinnamon; beat well. Bake in oblong (10 x 14 inch) pan for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Let cool about 5 minutes then top with topping.

TOPPING:

4 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. milk
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. coconut
1 c. nuts, chopped

OR:

1 pkg. German chocolate icing mix
