DATE AND NUT BARS 
3/4 c. all-purpose flour, unsifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. light brown sugar, packed
1 c. sliced dates
1 c. coarsely chopped walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Confectioners' sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease and line bottom of 9x9x2 inch baking pan with waxed paper.

Sift flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.

In medium bowl, beat eggs with mixer until light. Add brown sugar, beat until smooth and fluffy. Add dates, nuts and vanilla; mix thoroughly. Stir in dry ingredients; mix well.

Spread in prepared pan. Bake 25-30 minutes (surface springs back when pressed with fingertips). Cool slightly. Remove from pan on wire rack. Peel off paper. Cut into 24 bars. Sprinkle with sugar.
