DATE NUT BARS 
3/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. double acting baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
2 tbsp. butter, melted
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1 cup dates, cut into small pieces
confectioners' sugar, for rolling (optional)

Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt into large bowl. Add brown sugar and mix well. Blend in eggs and butter; mix thoroughly. Stir in nuts and dates. Spread into a well greased 11x7-inch or 9x9-inch pan.

Bake in a 350°F oven for 25 to 30 minutes. While warm cut into bars. If desired, roll in confectioners' sugar before serving.

Makes two dozen chewy and moist bars.
