CHRISTMAS CUT OUTS 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. baking powder
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening well. Add sugar and egg and blend together. Sift baking powder, flour and salt together and add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Stir in vanilla. Chill. Roll out 1/16 inch thick on pastry cloth. Cut in Christmas designs, brush with egg white, decorate and bake at 350°F 10 to 12 minutes.

Makes 100 (2-inch) cookies.
