1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. sour cream

Cream together first 4 ingredients. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with sour cream. Divide dough in half and roll in flour out to 1/4 inch thickness. You can chill dough overnight or a few hours before using. Grease cookie sheet lightly. Bake at 400 degrees about 7 to 8 minutes or until light brown. Decorate with favorite icing and sprinkles.
