ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 c. chopped nuts
2 c. coconut
3 1/2 c. plain flour
1 box dates, cut
1 lb. orange slice candy
1 tsp. baking soda

Preheat oven to 250, spray pan with non-stick spray. Cut candy into small pieces. Dissolve baking soda in buttermilk, cream butter and sugar. Add 1 egg at a time. Roll nuts, candy and dates in flour. Add remaining flour to buttermilk. Add nuts, candy, dates, and coconut to batter.

Bake in tube pan 2 1/2 hours.

Glaze:

1 c. orange juice
2 c. 4 X sugar

Mix orange juice and sugar to form a glaze. Pour over cake that had been turned out onto plate while cake is still warm.
