ORANGE SLICE CAKE | |
4 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 lb. orange slice candy, chopped 1 lb. dates 1 lb. raisins 1 c. chopped pecans 1 c. butter 2 c. sugar 4 eggs 1/2 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. baking soda Sift 3 1/2 cups flour; combine creamed butter and sugar. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating after each. Coat candy and nuts with remaining flour; mix buttermilk and soda. Add to flour mix. Pour into greased tube pan or 2 loaf pans. Bake at 230°F to 300°F for 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours. Put pan of water on low rack to keep cake moist. |
