DATE FILLED COOKIES 
1 lb. dates
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water

Cook until thick then remove from heat. Add 1/2 cup nuts.

DOUGH:

1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat well; add flour, soda and cinnamon. Divide dough into three parts. Roll one part out then spread 1/2 of date filling over the dough. Then roll up. Do the same with the rest. Wrap in wax paper and chill. Slice and bake at 350 degrees.
