EASY CARAMELS 
1 c. butter
1 lb. brown sugar (2 1/4 c.)
Dash of salt
1 c. light corn syrup
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt butter, add sugar and salt. Blend in syrup, stirring constantly. Add milk. Cook until firm ball stage (245 degrees) about 12 to 15 minutes. Add vanilla. Pour in buttered pan (9 x 9 x 2 inches). Cool and cut. Wrap pieces in wax paper.
