I've used cake mix to make cookies for years but use stick margarine instead of oil. Try a yellow cake mix, oatmeal, dry cranberries, white chocolate chips and pecans. Another is spice cake, applesauce and raisins.

To those of you who would like them softer. Try adding a tablespoon or two of yogurt, sour cream or buttermilk. This applies for any cookie recipe. Hope this helps!

This is a great recipe! It's so easy to make, and it turns out delicious.
I was babysitting my friend's three year old son so I thought we'd try a fun baking thing together, and this was so easy he could have done it himself.
I used a chocolate cake mix and chocolate chips and baked them for about 8-10 min. They were fat and chewy how I like my cookies, but a bit too chocolatey. I think I'm going to try this again with white cake and m&m's!

These are so great, cheap and easy. The cub scouts I used to lead always "forgot" to bring goodies when it was thier turn so I started each meeting with a baking lesson. We learned that you can substitute 1/2 cup applesauce for the oil. Over time we used all the fruit flavors and added nuts, coconut, cornflakes, rice cerials, granola etc.We made peanut butter cookies by using white or yellow cake mix,P.B.instead of the oil. We made oatmeal cookies with spice cake mix.We sometimes made bars by putting the dough in a jellyroll pan, covering it with chocolate or other kind of chips and chopped peanuts or coconut and baking it just 10 minutes. Then we drizzled chocolate syrup, marshmallos, chocolate chips that then melt. Sometimes we cut them diagonally to make neat diamond shapes.

I have tried a variety of this recipe and they all came out perfect. If your worried about overcooking them try using an airbake pan. I found them to work best.

I have made the cake mix cookies many ways many times for my senior group. My quick popular one at christmas is a white cake mix with finely crushed candy canes added.
