DESSERT DUMPLINGS 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter
2/3 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

SAUCE:

1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. boiling water

Sift together dry ingredients. Cut in butter. Add milk and vanilla. Mix together and drop by spoonfuls onto the bubbling sauce. Use a heavy kettle to prepare the sauce. Bring to a boil. After dumplings have been added, cover with a tight fitting lid and cook slowly for 20 minutes. Do not lift cover. Serve hot.
