2 c. flour (enriched) 3/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 c. shortening 6 tbsp. water 1 lb. sausage meat Sift flour, measure and sift again with salt and baking powder. Cut in the shortening. Add water, a little at a time and mix lightly, using as little water as possible. Roll out on lightly floured board and cut into oblong about 5" x 3" x 1/2". Place on pastry squares, moisten edges with water. Roll up and press together firmly creasing end with fork. Place folded side down on a shallow baking pan and bake in a hot oven, 425 degrees, for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 375 degrees and continue baking for 25 to 30 minutes. |
