SAUERBRATEN MEATBALLS | |
1 lb. lean ground beef 3/4 c. soft coarse bread crumbs 1/4 c. minced onion 2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. black pepper 7 tbsp. lemon juice 2 tbsp. water 1/4 c. butter 3 beef bouillon cubes 2 1/2 c. water 1/2 c. brown sugar 3/4 c. ginger snap crumbs Noodles Poppy seeds Combine meat, bread crumbs, onion, salt, pepper, 2 tablespoons water and 5 tablespoons lemon juice, form into 1 inch balls. Brown meat balls in butter. Remove from pan and to drippings add water, rest of lemon juice. Bring to boil. Add bouillon cubes, sugar and ginger snaps. Add meatballs to the sauce and simmer covered for 10 minutes. Stir and cook uncovered 5 minutes longer. Serve over noodles and sprinkle with poppy seeds. |
