FILLED SUGAR COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. rolled oats
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix. Add enough flour to make soft dough, 1 1/2 to 2 cups.

FILLING:

Make first, cool while mixing cookies. 1 tbsp. flour 1/2 c. water 1 c. sugar

Cook until thick. Cool. Roll dough. Put half in pan. Spread with filling. Cover with second half. May also use figs or dates.
