WALNUT OR PECAN PASTRIES 
6 oz. cream cheese
2 c. flour
2 sticks butter

FILLING:

2 tbsp. butter
4 eggs
2 c. light brown sugar
2 tbsp. light Karo syrup
2 c. chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix cream cheese, flour and butter well with hands. Make walnut size balls and place in small tart pans. use your thumb to push dough around sides and bottom on pan. Don't be real fussy, just make sure the dough covers the whole area. it forms well when baked.

Filling: Melt butter; add remaining ingredients. Mix well and fill tins 3/4 full. Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar. You'll probably have more filling than dough, but the filling keeps well and the dough is easy to make. i usually do 1 1/2 dough recipe.
