EASY SPICE COOKIES 
2 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. ginger
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cloves
3/4 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 lg. egg

In bowl combine first 6 ingredients. In mixer bowl beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Stir in dry ingredients until just combined. Divide dough into 4 parts. Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets. Between 2 layers of wax paper put 1/4 of the dough and roll thin. (Keep remaining dough in the refrigerator.) Cut out cookies and bake 8 to 9 minutes. Cool on wire racks. Repeat with other 3 parts. Makes 6 1/2 dozen 2" cookies.
