SISTER MARY'S MAPLE WAGON WHEEL
TWIST
 
1 pkg. Pillsbury hot roll mix
3/4 c. warm water
1 egg
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. maple flavoring
6 tbsp. butter, melted

FILLING:

3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. maple flavoring
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add egg, sugar, and flavoring. Add to flour and knead until satiny smooth. Place in greased bowl and let rise until double in bulk. Put in warm place 30 to 45 minutes. Prepare filling by mixing together.

When dough has raised, divide in 3 parts; roll out round and place on well greased 12 inch pizza pan. Brush with melted butter, about 2 tablespoons, and spread with 1/3 filling. Then unit all 3 layers, end with top filling. Place a 2 inch glass in center; cut in half, then cut wedges until you have 16 pie shaped wedges (do not cut where glass is). Pick up each piece and twist 5 times (not more) until all pieces are twisted. Remove glass; let raise until double in size. Bake 20 to 25 minutes in 375 degree oven.

Glaze: 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 2 to 3 tablespoons warm milk, and 1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring.
