FRENCH BREAKFAST PUFFS 
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
6 tbsp. melted butter

Cream sugar, shortening and egg. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Fill 12 count greased muffin pan 2/3 full. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Remove muffins from oven. Immediately dip muffins in melted butter, then in cinnamon mixture until coated. Serve warm.
