FRENCH BREAKFAST PUFFS 
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
6 tbsp. butter, melted

In mixer bowl, cream together the first 1/2 cup sugar, shortening and egg. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition. Fill 12 greased muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Combine remaining sugar and cinnamon. Remove muffins from oven immediately. Dip muffins in melted butter then in cinnamon/sugar mixture until coated. Yield: 12 muffins.
