FRENCH BREAKFAST MUFFINS 
1/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. melted butter

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 12-15 medium muffin cups. Cut shortening into the flour and 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg mixture. Beat egg and milk in separate bowl. Mix egg and milk into first mixture which should have the texture of coarse cornmeal. Do not over mix!

Fill muffin cups 2/3 full and bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Immediately after baking roll in melted butter and sugar, cinnamon mixture. Serve hot.
