SOURDOUGH BREAD | |
1 c. starter 1 pkg. yeast 1 1/2 c. warm water 5 c. flour plus more for kneading 2 tbsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt Add yeast to warm water with 1 teaspoon of the sugar. Let stand 5 minutes. In large bowl combine yeast, sourdough, 4 cups of flour, remaining sugar and the salt. Beat well. Let rise in oiled bowl until double. Mix soda in 1 cup flour add to the risen dough. Knead until smooth and satiny. Divide into 2 loaves. Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes. |
