SOURDOUGH BREAD 
1 1/2 c. sourdough starter
3/4 c. milk
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter or shortening
1/4 c. warm water
1 pkg. yeast
5 to 6 c. unsifted flour

Scald milk, stir in sugar and shortening. Cool to lukewarm. Measure warm water and dry yeast; stir in. Add milk mixture, starter, and 2 1/2 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough flour to make a stiff dough. Turn onto floured board and knead until elastic.

Place in greased bowl and cover. Let rise until doubled in volume. Punch dough down, divide into 3 equal pieces. Place in greased loaf pans. Let rise. Bake at 400 degrees for about 25 minutes or until done. Turn out onto rack to cool.
