SOURDOUGH BREAD
1 1/2 c. sourdough starter
3/4 c. scalded milk
2 tbsp. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 c. warm water
4-5 c. white flour

Add sugar to scalded milk. Stir in salt and butter. Cool to lukewarm. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in the warm water. Add the milk mixture, the starter and 3 cups flour. Stir. Turn dough onto lightly floured board. Work in 1 cup flour. Then add enough flour to make soft dough. Knead 10 minutes.

Place in buttered bowl, turning dough to grease it all over. Cover and let rise until doubled. Punch down; divide into 3 equal pieces. Form into 3 flat, round balls. Place on buttered cookie sheets. Cover and let rise until doubled. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes.
