SOURDOUGH BREAD 
1 c. starter
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 c. oil
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. warm water
6 c. bread flour
1 c. raisins (optional)

Mix all ingredients together in large bowl. (Do not use a metal bowl or spoon.) It is also best to stir after each 2 cups flour. Cover the bowl loosely and let stand overnight in a warm place.

The next morning punch down, divide into 3 portions and knead each portion 2-3 minutes. Makes into loaves and place into well greased pans. Brush oil lightly on top of each loaf. Let stand in warm place until well risen, 7-8 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Turn out of pan immediately after taking from the oven and rub butter on top of each loaf to make crust soften.
