RANGER COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. quick-cooking oats
1 c. fortified whole wheat flakes cereal
1/2 c. shredded coconut

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix thoroughly shortening, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes. Immediately remove from baking sheet. Yield: 3 dozen cookies.
