RANCH COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
2 c. applesauce
2 eggs, slightly beaten
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. nuts, chopped
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
2 c. rolled oats
12 oz. chocolate bits

Cream the shortening, butter, brown sugar, applesauce and 2 eggs thoroughly. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and salt; add to creamed mixture. Add remaining ingredients. Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes.

Makes 100 cookies.
