CINNAMON APPLES | |
6-8 lg. baking apples (Golden Delicious or Rome works well) SAUCE: 1 1/2 c. cold water 3/4 c. sugar 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1 tbsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 tsp. almond extract Red food coloring Peel and core apples and cut into bite-size pieces into baking dish. Mix sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, vanilla and almond extract. Add red food coloring to desired color. Cook until mixture thickens. Pour over apples and bake covered 40-45 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve as side dish with turkey, ham or meat loaf. |
