OREGON APPLE DAPPLE 
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. vanilla
4 cups grated apples
1 cup chopped nuts

Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Add flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Then add vanilla, apples and nuts. Bake in a 9x13-inch pan at 350°F for 45 minutes. Serve warm with sauce (see below) or ice cream.

May freeze. To serve: place thawed in slow (300°F) oven about 30 minutes.

SAUCE:

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1/2 cup cream
1 cup sugar

Heat butter, cream and sugar to a boil. Simmer for 20 minutes.
