1 cup sugar
1/2 shortening
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 apples
1/2 cup nuts

SAUCE:

1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup cream
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix all ingredients and spread in greased pan. Bake at 350°F for 40 minutes. Mix sauce ingredients together in sauce pan and cook until thick. Spread over cookies and serve.
