QUICKY DOUGHNUTS 
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
Fat for frying
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. sugar
1 tbsp. melted shortening

Beat egg; add the milk and vanilla. Combine the dry ingredients, sift and fold into egg mixture. Blend thoroughly. Stir in the melted shortening. Heat fat for frying to 350 degrees. Dip a tablespoon into the hot fat, then scoop up a spoonful of batter. Quickly immerse into hot fat and drop off batter (will form into balls). Turn balls when they rise to surface of pan. Fry for about 3-5 minutes or until brown. Drain on absorbent paper and when cool, spread with powdered sugar.
