FRUIT COCKTAIL CAKE 
1 c. sifted cake flour
1 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 #303 can fruit cocktail, well drained
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/4 c. light brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Use a greased 8 inch square pan. Sift the flour again with the sugar, soda, and salt. Add the vanilla and egg and beat well. Add the well drained fruit cocktail and mix until thoroughly blended. Pour the batter into prepared pan. Mix the brown sugar and chopped walnuts, and sprinkle on top of batter. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream.
