MACARONI AND CHEESE 
2 c. sm. macaroni noodles
1/2 stick butter
2/3 c. milk (save 1/3 c.)
Cheddar cheese (sharp or extra sharp), grated
Salt (optional)
1 egg

Cook noodles according to directions; drain. In 1 1/2-quart or 2-quart casserole dish, pour 1/3 cup milk in bottom. Add 1 layer of noodles (1/2), butter slices and cover with lots of cheese. Repeat layers.

Beat 1 egg with 1/4 to 1/3 cup milk and pour over cheese topping. Bake 35-40 minutes at 400 degrees until cheese is golden brown. Serves 6-8 people. Can be made in 3 layers.
