1/2 lb. sweet butter 1/3 c. confectioners sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. brandy 2 1/2 c. flour Vanilla Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and sugar in bowl with electric mixer until fluffy. Add egg and brandy and continue to mix. Stir in baking powder. Gradually add flour to make a soft and workable dough. Shape a small amount of dough into a roll and form an "S" shape or cut with cookie cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from oven. While still warm, sprinkle with vanilla and roll in confectioners sugar. Place on sheet of foil that has been covered with sifted confectioners sugar. When cooled thoroughly, sift additional confectioners sugar over cookies. Makes 50 to 60 cookies. NOTE: Freezes well. Vanilla may be substituted for brandy. |
