4 eggs, separated 1 tsp. cream of tartar 4 tbsp. water or milk 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt Separate eggs; whip egg whites and cream of tartar; set aside. Beat together 4 egg yolks and water or milk, then add sugar, vanilla, flour, baking powder, and salt. Fold in egg white mixture. Place into 9 x 13 inch cake pan (do not use glass pan). Smooth out batter being careful not to over beat batter. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 20 minutes or until cake is light brown and springs back to touch. Great snack cake or use as strawberry shortcake. |
