CARRIE LOU'S FRUIT CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
6 lg. eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 lb. crystallized cherries
1 lb. crystallized pineapple
1 lb. pecans

Cream butter, add sugar and mix. Add eggs and beat thoroughly. Add vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and mix with fruits. Add this mixture to creamed mixture. Pour into large greased tube pan lined with heavy brown paper and bake in a slow 250 degree oven for 2 hours or until done when tested. Usually takes about 3 or 3 1/2 hours.

Put a pan of water on bottom rack under cake while baking this makes cake more moist.
