AUNT NORA'S CORN BREAD (1930) 
3/4 c. cornmeal
1 c. flour
1/3 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
2 tbsp. melted shortening

Mix all ingredients. Pour into greased 8 inch square pan and bake 20 minutes at 425 degrees. Makes about 9 squares.
