PLAIN LOAF CAKE 
5 eggs
3 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 tsp. lemon flavoring
1/2 tsp. salt
3 c. flour
1 c. sweet milk
1/2 c. Spry
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking powder

Separate eggs and beat the whites with cream of tartar until they stand in a peak. Beat the egg yolks; cream butter and Spry until light and fluffy. Add the sugar, a little at a time, until all 3 cups have been used. Then, add egg yolks and lemon flavoring. Mix well. Sift flour and salt. Add to creamed mixture with 1/2 cup milk. While this dissolves, add the rest of the flour and beat well. Then add the milk and baking powder solution. Fold in egg whites. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour in large Teflon bundt pan.
