SANDRA'S BEST HUNGARIAN GOULASH 
4 slices bacon
1/4 c. flour
1 tbsp. paprika
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. ground pepper
Dash cayenne pepper
2 lb. boneless beef, 1 1/2 inch cubes
1 c. sliced onions
14 1/2 oz. can stewed tomatoes
1 chopped green pepper
4 med. potatoes, sliced in wedges
6 oz. can tomato paste
2-3 c. strong chicken stock

Thinly coat Dutch oven with oil. Brown bacon until fat melts but bacon is not yet crisp. Remove from pan. Put flour, paprika, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper into large bag. Place beef in bag, shake well.

Brown beef in bacon fat. Add onions, tomatoes, pepper, potatoes, tomato paste and chicken stock. Lay bacon strips on top. Cover. Bake 325 degrees 1 1/2 - 2 hours. After 1 hour, stir and add water if necessary.

Serve with well cooked cabbage seasoned with brown sugar and a pinch of caraway seeds. Hard bread and pickled beets go well with this. 6-8 servings.
