“CRANBERRY UPSIDE-DOWN CAKE” IS IN:

CRANBERRY UPSIDE-DOWN CAKE 
3 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups cranberries
1/4 cup shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Melt butter and 1 cup of the sugar in a frying pan and add cranberries.

For cake mixture, cream shortening and remaining 1/2 cup sugar together and add egg, well beaten. Sift dry ingredients and add, alternately with milk, to egg mixture. Add vanilla.

Pour batter over cranberries in frying pan and bake in moderate oven, 350°F., about 35 minutes.

Turn upside down for serving with whipped cream or hard sauce.
