GRANDMOTHER'S BROCCOLI SOUP 
1 bunch broccoli
4 tbsp. butter
6 tbsp. flour
5 c. chicken broth
1/2 c. heavy cream
1/2 c. milk
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Can substitute 1 cup half & half for cream and milk.

Cut stems and cook 10 minutes. Add rest of broccoli and cook 5 more minutes. Melt butter and add flour. Stir with whisk. When blended, add broth, stirring rapidly. Cook until thickened and smooth. Add broccoli and simmer, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes. Blend in small batches until smooth. Return to pan. Bring to boil. Add cream or milk and nutmeg. Serve hot.
