JAMAICAN SPICY APPETIZERS | |
1/3 c. minced onion 2 tbsp. oil 1/2 lb. ground beef 1/2 c. chopped tomatoes 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1/2 tsp. dry mustard 1/4 tsp. hot pepper sauce 2 eggs 2 1/2 c. flour 1/2 c. butter 1/4 c. cold water Cook onion in oil until clear. Add beef and cook until brown, breaking apart with a fork. Add tomato and remaining seasonings. Cook for 5 minutes. Add 1 beaten egg, stir and cook for 2 minutes longer. Put mixture aside to cool. Meanwhile, cut butter into the flour. Add remaining egg. Mix and form into ball. Roll to 1/16 inch thickness. Cut in 2 1/2 inch rounds. Place 1 teaspoon filling on each pastry round. Fold in half. Seal and crimp edges. Prick tops. Place on greased baking sheets. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 minutes. Yield: 30. |
