BUTTER COOKIES 
1 c. soft butter
1/2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour (measure after sifting)

In large bowl, with electric mixer on medium speed, cream butter and sugar. Thoroughly blend in flour, adding a small amount at a time. On a lightly floured surface roll out 1/3 inch thick and cut with cookie cutter. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 20-25 minutes at 300 degrees (or until lightly browned). Cool on wire rack. Frost with a buttercream frosting and decorate as you wish.
