BUTTER COOKIES | |
1 c. soft butter 1/2 c. sugar 1 egg 3 tsp. flavoring (vanilla, lemon, etc.) 3 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder Mix butter, sugar, and egg together thoroughly. Stir in flavoring. Sift together flour and baking powder and stir in. Chill dough. Roll very thin (1/16 inch). Cut in desired shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake until they are delicately browned at 425 degrees, 5 to 7 minutes. Makes 7 dozen 2 inch cookies. May be put through a cookie press. Decorate with frosting, sprinkles or nuts. |
