BRUSSELS SPROUTS WITH GARLIC AND
PARMESAN
 
1 lb. fresh Brussels sprouts
1/4 c. water
2 tbsp. (1/4 stick) butter
1 garlic clove, minced
Salt and pepper
1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese

Discard any dry outside leaves from sprouts. Trim stems. Using small sharp knife, cut a shallow X in bottom of each stem. Combine sprouts and water in a shallow 1 quart baking dish. Cover and cook on high for 7 minutes in the microwave. Let rest covered for 3-4 minutes.

Meanwhile, combine butter and garlic in small glass measuring cup and cook on high for 1-2 minutes. Drain water from sprouts. Add butter mixture, salt and pepper and toss lightly to coat. Add cheese and toss again. Serve hot.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
