BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE | |
2 sticks butter 3 c. sugar 5 eggs 3 c. all purpose flour 1 c. buttermilk 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. vanilla Cream 2 sticks butter together. Add sugar and eggs, one at a time. Beat together until well mixed. Add alternately the 3 cups of flour. Add buttermilk and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in water. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Bake in greased bundt or angel cake pan at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until done. ICING: 6 oz. powdered sugar 1 tbsp. + 1 tsp. milk Mix sugar and milk until spreadable. Cool cake completely for icing to drizzle nicely. Variation: Chocolate Pound Cake. Add 1/2 cup cocoa and 1/4 cup more butter to ingredients. For icing, melt a 6 ounce bag of chocolate morsels and drizzle on cooled cake. |
