BEST-EVER GINGER SNAPS 
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. molasses
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves

Combine sugar, flour, salt, soda and spices. Cut in shortening to resemble coarse crumbs. Stir in molasses and egg. Shape into 1 inch balls, roll in sugar and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly and bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
