1 3/4 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. crushed anice seed or 1 tsp. anice extract 1/2 c. of shortening (butter) 1 c. sugar 1 egg Sift flour, measure; add baking powder and salt and sift again Add anice seed or extract, cream sugar and shortening together until light and fluffy, add egg, beat well. Add flour and blend thoroughly. Shape into roll about 2 inches thick and 10 inches long. Wrap in wax paper; chill. Cut into thin slices; set on greased cookie sheet and bake in 400 degree oven for 10 minutes or until browned. Makes about 4 dozen. |
