MOTHER'S BLACKBERRY CAKE 
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. raisins
2 c. blackberries
2/3 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cloves
Pinch salt
1 c. pecans
1 c. blackberry juice
2 eggs

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Add sifted dry ingredients with juice. Mix in berries, raisins and pecans by hand. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan.

CARAMEL ICING:

1 stick butter
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1 lb. brown sugar

Mix and cook. Cook 4 minutes after it starts to boil. Remove from heat and beat until thick.
