MOTHER'S BUTTERNUT POUND CAKE 
1/2 lb. butter
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. butternut flavoring
1 c. milk
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt

Sift flour 3 times; set aside. Cream butter and shortening. Add sugar and continue creaming until light and fluffy. Add whole eggs, one at a time. Add all dry ingredients alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Blend thoroughly adding flavorings. Beat 1 minute. Turn into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan and bake 300 degrees in a cold oven for about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
