OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream tartar
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 c. Crisco shortening
3 eggs
3 c. old fashioned oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. raisins (optional)

Mix flour, soda, salt, and cream of tartar. Set aside. Beat sugars and shortening, eggs, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add flour mixture. Mix well. Add oatmeal. Mix well. Drop by teaspoon on ungreased cookie sheet. Leave room to spread. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.

FILLING:

1/2 stick butter
1/2 box confectioners' sugar
Milk (if needed)
3 or 4 tbsp. Crisco
1 tsp. vanilla
